Coala Heart Monitor system enables ground-breaking possibilities for clinical studies of the heart. It simplifies user-centered studies and collects large data sets of ECG and heart sounds in geographically distributed groups. Our system performance is clinically evaluated based on research results presented at several national and international research conferences. An integrated smartphone-based system to detect atrial fibrillation by analyzing both P-wave and R-R variability in ECG recordings, in line with clinical guidelines. The system also automatically detects several other types of arrhythmias, and by recording both chest and thumb ECGs, high accuracy is achieved. Our team continues to develop the system so that more physiological and pathophysiological processes within the cardiovascular system can be registered and evaluated.
